Since I began my blogging journey, one of the goals of mine was to meet other like-minded people who’re also on their blogging journey. It’s been only a couple of months since I’ve launched Simply Kenjay and I didn’t realize how much work it was to even run a blog. How did I even start the last blog I had back in 2013 or 14 (and failed to continue – but that’s another story)? The biggest question I had was, “Where do people get their support? Where do people meet other bloggers?”
A friend mentioned checking out thebloggerunion.com because they do a lot of events locally and it would be a great way to meet other bloggers. I went to my first South Florida Blogger Union Meet Up in June (as I was still on the fence on whether I wanted to get my own personal website or just be full-time on Instagram). It was at that meet up that I learned that your blog is what you own and if Instagram (or any other platform) decided to change the way they do things, you have no control over that. That completely made sense to me and it was what got me on the road to starting a blog again.
This past weekend, I went to my first Fort Lauderdale Blogger Union Meet Up event which was a really nice mixer held and sponsored at Chima Fort Lauderdale. There, I met a whole new set of faces of aspiring bloggers from all genres. I honestly had the best time that evening.
The restaurant was in a perfect location, sitting right off of Las Olas Blvd. As you walk in, the courtyard is decorated with beautiful tropical plants and outdoor decor. Perfect for taking pictures before you head into the restaurant. The mixer was held in their bar space, situated on the right as you walked into the doors and the dining area to the left. The bar was a great space that held a good amount of us (I would say there was about 25 people that showed up?). I had some delicious bites and complimentary cocktail while I chatted with a few of the bloggers there.
It was definitely a great start to meeting others in the community that are working towards being influencers in their space. Can’t wait to head to their next event which will be held on August 5th, so make sure to check out the bloggerunion.com website for more details!
