I had the chance to meet up with my sister in San Diego in November and visit my family in LA. The original plan was to go to Turks & Caicos, but that plan was scratched due to some damages that happened to our Airbnb we planned to stay at so we decided to switch it up. Thank goodness we chose San Diego!

I’ve never been to San Diego before so I was super excited for the trip there. I typically don’t travel as much for leisure so this was everything I needed and more. There’s something about California that screams beauty. I mean you have the oceans, the mountains, and the deserts. You cannot beat that if you’re a huge nature lover.

My sister and I flew in on a Monday afternoon and we were able to check out Balboa Park before the sun went down. We had a ton a fun looking at the architecture of the buildings and exploring the Botanical Gardens. It was a start of one successful trip!

Tuesday, we planned a trip up to Temecula to do a wine tour. It was my very first one, but I had such a great time boozing with my sis. The weather was spectacular that day. It was in the high 70s, no clouds in the sky and super sunny.

Seeing the vineyards first hand was breathtaking. I spent the entire tour just mesmerized by the rolling hills of grape vines painted with its burnt yellow and green grape leaves. Have you ever had a moment where you asked yourself, “Is this really happening?” Yeah. I had many moments like that on the tour.

Wednesday, we spent most of our time in San Diego exploring. We went up to La Jolla and parked near the Coves. My sis and I climbed on the rocks to view the Pacific Ocean. We watched people below us on a kayaking tour and we put it on our list to do the next time we were in town.

Later that evening, we wanted to see the sunset and drove over to the Sunset Cliffs Reserve. We explored a bit around the cliffs and managed to take some gorgeous photos before the sun went down. I swear, the views were so breathtaking that I had to close my eyes to take it all in. You don’t get this kind of view in Florida.

Thanksgiving Day was a lot of fun. We drove up to LA to surprise our Grandmother & Great Grandmother because they didn’t know we were coming. My sister coordinated with my Uncle on logistics before the trip so we went to his house before going off to dinner.

First, we surprised my Grandmother at dinner as my Great Grandmother wasn’t in the mood to be at a restaurant. As we walked into the Courtyard Marriott in Long Beach, my Grandmother & Auntie were waiting for our arrival. My Grandmother was shook! She had an idea that maybe my Dad & Mom would be coming, but not my sister and I.

We enjoyed a great buffet style dinner and caught up on life. After dinner, we headed over to our Great Grandmothers home and spent some time with her. Can you believe she will be 96 this year? She is still rocking it and she holding on and living her best life. I hope that I’m just as healthy and strong by the time I reach her age.

Friday, my sister and I decided that since we were in LA, we might as well go to Disneyland. I remember going there as a child and having such a great time. I thought the park was going to be bigger from what I remembered, but it turned out to be smaller in comparison to my memories. Regardless, I still had a great time that day and although we were able to get on a couple of rides, just being there was magical.

I cannot wait to travel some more. I know my next destination will be heading home for my sister’s birthday in Fort Walton Beach. Cannot wait to get my butt in the air and be home with the family 🙂
